Deze R&D Mechanical engineer & projectleider is nu 10 werkzaam bij een Engels Ingenieursbureau. Aan de hand van klantaanvragen ontwerpt en ontwikkelt hij nieuwe technische oplossingen op het gebied van duurzaamheid en automotive. Alles wat een accu heeft i.c.m. mechatronica. Elektrische (zelfsturende) auto’s, windmolens, Schepen, treinen, kranen, fietsen. Hij is nu 2 maanden woonachtig in Drachten en werkt 16 uur op afstand voor zijn Engelse werkgever. Zoekt nu een functie waar hij collega’s heeft en nieuwe concepten, ideeën, producten en projecten kan bedenken. Hij is snel beschikbaar. Eventueel op uurbasis inzetbaar.

Bevoegdheden, verantwoordelijkheden en taken

• Lead the EU consultancy engineering team to deliver drivetrain consultancy projects for automotive, marine, wind & rail customers
• Particular focus on the development of gearboxes for electric vehicles in the last 2 years
• Responsible for the technical delivery, people management and commercial performance of the EU consultancy team
• Led the engineering design team to develop the Romax Butterfly™ next generation offshore medium speed wind turbine drivetrain (6-10MW)

• Presented the launch of the Romax Butterfly™ drivetrain platform across Europe and China, and supported sales in Taiwan, Japan, US, India & Korea
• Led funded R&D projects to deliver new tools for the design and analysis of electro-mechanical systems (£1.4m budget management)
•  Led team of project managers to deliver 14 new wind turbine drivetrain design projects to China, Taiwan, Europe & India with a total project value in excess of £7m. Responsible for budget, timing, resourcing & technical delivery.
• Project Manager leading a design team to deliver a new 2MW gearbox design for a customer in Europe
• Responsible for developing, implementing & training in new project management processes
• Managed relationships with the wind turbine certification bodies (GL, TUV-Sud, Dewi-OCC & DNV)
• Led team of manufacturing specialists to deliver manufacturing audits & support to wind turbine component manufacturers in China, Taiwan & India
• Managed and developed relationships with the bearing manufacturers for wind turbine projects
• Responsible for bearing selection in multi-MW wind turbine drivetrain designs
• Project Manager leading a design team to deliver a new 2MW gearbox design for a customer in Taiwan
• Invited to join technology start-up company by ex-Visteon Director and venture capitalist partnership
• Technical expert leading the design, build, test & development of a commercialised version of the switched reluctance turbo-generator.
• Lead engineer of a Government funded research project to design, build and test a switched reluctance turbo-generator.
• Responsible for engine simulation, machine design & manufacture, control system development and engine testing.
• Led design and manufacturing teams to deliver new products within the Powertrain Rotating Electrical group to support customer vehicle programmes. Responsible for the design, validation, quality, timing and cost.
• Applied Failure Modes Effects & Analysis, 8D problem solving and other techniques necessary during the product development process.
